The
Resurrection Story
told using a
labyrinth
Key to the diagram at left:
A quadrant is the upper right
B quadrant it the upper left
C quadrant is the lower left
D quadrant is the lower right
- God
came to earth in Jesus (vertical line) to show us how wide is God’s love
for us (horizontal line), which was revealed on the cross.
- Evil
tried to keep the news of Jesus’ resurrection away from his disciples
(V-shaped shields in each quadrant)
- God
sent angels to roll away the stone for Mary Magdalene (make a curved line
from top of cross to top of A quadrant shield)
- Mary Magdalene
runs to tell the disciples (make a curved line from A dot to top of B
quadrant shield)
- Peter
and the other disciple run and see that the stone is rolled away, and the
tomb is empty (make a curved line from the B dot to the horizontal part of
the A quadrant shield)
- A
disciple and Cleopas try to get away by walking
to Emmaus, and they are joined by a stranger who reveals to them the
resurrection as part of God’s plan (make a curved line from the horizontal
part of B quadrant [across the outside and over the top] to the right
horizontal part of the cross)
- These
two disciples go back to Jerusalem
to find the other disciples to tell them that Jesus is risen
and has appeared to them. The other
disciples are hiding behind locked doors.
(from the left horizontal part of the cross, make a curved line
that circles over the top and to the horizontal part of the D quadrant
shield)
- Thomas
joins the disciples in the upper room the next week (from the horizontal
part of shield in C quadrant, make a curved line that circles over the top
to the D dot[disciples])
- Jesus
appears to Thomas with the other disciples, though he could have appeared
wherever Thomas was (from the C dot, make a curved line that circles over
the top to the vertical end of the D shield)
- The
disciples now know that Jesus is risen indeed, and this good news is for
the whole world (from the vertical end of the C quadrant shield, make a
curved line that circles around to the vertical end of the D quadrant
shield)
- People who are baptized into Jesus ‘
death will be raised with him in eternal life (with your finger, trace the
path into the labyrinth all the way to the center; then trace it back out)
