“What Are You Hungry For?”
Tell me if this conversation sounds familiar to you:
What are you thinking about for dinner tonight?”
“Oh, I don’t know. I really haven’t given it much thought. You?”
“That’s why I’m asking you, because I don’t really have any ideas.”
“I don’t know. There’s nothing I’m really craving. Are you sure there’s nothing you’re thinking about?”
“Ugh!!!”
I’m guessing our house isn’t the only one where this conversation takes place. “What are you hungry for?” I don’t know about you, but the reality is most days I’m really not hungry for anything in particular.
Today’s verse of the day in my Bible app is from Matthew, Chapter 5, verse 6: “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” When I see this statement, I feel like I hear Jesus asking me the question: “What are you hungry for? Are you hungry for righteousness, or are you hungry for comfort, ease, money, possessions, and temporary contentment? Are you hungry just for that which will help you get by to the next day, or are you hungry for something that will truly satisfy?”
In John chapter 4, Jesus has a conversation with a Samaritan woman at a well. She tells him she is thirsty for a drink of water. In this conversation, Jesus then changes the tone. “Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” So often, we settle for what will temporarily satisfy ourselves, when there is something else out there that will provide true fulfillment.
So, again, I ask you, “What are you hungry (or thirsty) for?”
Blessings, Chris

Worship This Week
This Sunday we move to a message about one of the first messages of morality and kindness most of learn – The Golden Rule. This week our message is titled “Do Unto Others.” Our Scripture focus will be from the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 7, verse 12.
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.“
Our services will begin with the song Love God, Love People, by Danny Gokey. During our 10:20 service, our Choir will sing Wade In The Water as our Prelude. Both services will include the songs O How I Love Jesus, followed by Change My Heart, O God and we will conclude with the song Freely, Freely.
Virtual Worship Information
In addition to in-person worship, our service will be live-streamed. The service can be viewed on our Facebook Page. The service will start at approximately 10:25 am following our Gathering Song. Additionally, we post a recording of our messages to our website by early Sunday afternoon.

Closing Words of Wisdom:
The key to Christian living is a thirst and hunger for God. And one of the main reasons people do not understand or experience the sovereignty of grace and the way it works through the awakening of sovereign joy is that their hunger and thirst for God is so small.” – John Piper
